China lost 1-0 against South Korea in Seoul on Tuesday, raising doubts about their chances of advancing to the Asian qualifying round for the 2026 competition.
After that, Thailand had to defeat Singapore by three goals in Bangkok in order to pass China and take second place in Group C. If Thailand had won, China would have been eliminated from the tournament.
Thailand did win 3-1 against Singapore, the worst team, but China advanced because of several saves from 40-year-old Hassan.
Hassan informed News, Singapore’s official broadcaster, that a photo of a QR code used for payment from his food stand has gone viral.

Though he could not say how much money was sent to him, Hassan said, “I think we have to stop somewhere.”
Since his exploits against Thailand, a large number of Chinese admirers have visited his family’s stall, Dapur Hassan, in Singapore’s eastern suburbs. According to local media, they ran out of food on Thursday.
