Chohan, 22, is the first South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) alumnus to be picked in an England squad. He has claimed 22 wickets in 23 T20 Blast games for Yorkshire, including 17 in 10 games in 2024.
Due to a calf injury, Buttler hasn’t played since August. Harry Brook and Phil Salt will captain the one-day and T20 teams in his place when they play Australia in September.
It will be his first series in command after England’s setup was reviewed following the T20 World Cup in June, which resulted in the resignation of head coach Matthew Mott.
On October 31, in Antigua, the first of three ODIs versus the West Indies will take place. Five T20 matches will then follow.
The same team has been selected for both series; the two uncapped players are Warwickshire all-rounder Dan Mousley and Hampshire fast bowler John Turner in addition to Chohan.
Two more players from the England Test squad, who wrap up their tour of Pakistan on October 28, will travel with them. Their names have not yet been announced.
While they continue to rebuild following the departure of Mott, the retirement of all-rounder Moeen Ali, and the absence of senior players like Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Mark Wood, England drew the T20 series against Australia but lost the ODI series 3-2.
