Clapham High Street Teen Disturbances Lead to Arrests and Police Action

Six teenage girls were arrested after two incidents of anti social behaviour in south west London. Police say the events were linked to online trends that encouraged the crowd to gather and act out.

On Tuesday, around 100 officers were called to Clapham High Street after reports of disorder. Young people tried to enter shops and a restaurant. Some lit fires and set off fireworks on nearby Clapham Common.

Several officers were assaulted during the incident. One officer suffered an injury while making an arrest. Police detained three girls following the violence.

Arrests and Legal Action

A 17 year old and two girls aged 13 were arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers. The 17 year old has been charged and released on bail. The younger girls also received bail and will return to face further action if required.

Another incident on Saturday led to three more arrests. Those girls face charges related to theft and assault after similar anti social behaviour involving a large group.

Police confirmed that more arrests may follow. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and body worn cameras to identify others involved.

Local Authorities React

Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan described the situation as appalling. He said those responsible will face full legal consequences.

Eyewitness Accounts and Local Impact

Local residents said the situation came as a shock. One witness, Christine, said the heavy police presence felt unusual and intimidating, especially while she was with her baby.

Business owners also reported disruption. Staff at a local chicken shop said large groups entered the store and acted aggressively, forcing them to close early. Nearby restaurants and food outlets also reported similar issues.

Workers said many of the disturbances targeted food businesses rather than clothing shops. A nearby McDonald’s reported food theft during the chaos.

One worker said a large group moved between stores, and some clashes broke out when police arrived.

Ongoing Investigation

Police continue to investigate both incidents. They warned that individuals who took part may still face arrest. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Next Article Estate Agents Challenge Rightmove Over Rising Fees Growing Concerns Over Costs Estate agents across the UK are raising concerns about Rightmove’s subscription fees. Many say the costs have increased sharply in recent years, often without a clear rise in services. As property prices stay flat, these rising expenses are putting pressure on agents and their businesses. Legal Action Launched A class action has been initiated against Rightmove. The case, brought forward by accountant Jeremy Newman, represents potentially hundreds of estate agents. The claim seeks nearly £1.5 billion in damages. It alleges that Rightmove has taken advantage of its strong position in the online property market and charged unfair fees. The case has been filed with the Competition Appeal Tribunal, where the claims will be examined in detail. Allegations of Market Dominance The claim argues that Rightmove holds a dominant role in property listings. Because of this position, estate agents feel they have limited alternatives. Many continue using the platform, even though it is costly, because it generates a large share of their leads. Newman, a former Competition and Markets Authority panel member, says agents are being forced to reduce staff. This is because they cannot balance staffing costs with rising subscription fees. As a result, service quality may be affected. Rightmove Responds Rightmove has strongly rejected the allegations. The company says the claim has no merit and that it will defend its position. It also highlights the value it provides to both agents and consumers. According to Rightmove, its platform remains an important tool in the property market. Industry Impact and Reactions Reports from several estate agents show significant fee increases over time. Many say they pay more compared to other platforms. However, they also admit that Rightmove continues to deliver a large number of leads. This creates a difficult situation. Agents feel the platform is essential, but the rising costs are hard to manage. Many believe they have little choice but to stay. Estate Agents Challenge Rightmove Over Rising Fees
