ISLAMABAD: According to The News, the 14th China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) concluded in Beijing on Friday without reaching a consensus on long-overdue capacity payments to Chinese independent power producers (IPPs).
Nevertheless, the meeting officially ushered the collaboration into CPEC Phase-II, marking a significant milestone. “When these priorities are combined, CPEC will become a corridor of industrialization, technology, sustainability, and shared prosperity,” stated Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.
The September 2025 action plan, which aims to create a more intimate China-Pakistan community with a shared destiny, serves as the foundation for these objectives.
The plan lays forth a comprehensive agenda that includes mining, industrial collaboration, agricultural modernization, Special Economic Zones, and maritime development.
