According to reports, Australian captain Pat Cummins and batsman Travis Head have declined millions of dollars in offers from an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise group to leave the country and play full-time in franchise-based T20 tournaments.
According to Australian media outlet The Sydney Morning Herald, the $10 million informal offer to each player was intended to lure the Australians into a worldwide T20 network that included the USA, the Caribbean, the UAE, and India.
IPL team owners have broadened their horizons by purchasing shares in competitions like the SA20, ILT20, Major League Cricket (MLC), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and The Hundred in response to the explosive rise of franchise cricket.
Players are now offered multi-million dollar contracts by these leagues, which are frequently significantly more than what they receive from national boards.
