Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino, who announced his upcoming departure in January 2026, responded to a glowing message from FBI Director Kash Patel.
Patel highlighted Bongino’s contributions, calling him “the best partner” in efforts to reform the FBI. He noted that Bongino helped make the organization more efficient, led the successful Summer Heat operation, and provided transparency for the public. Patel also praised Bongino for delivering significant breakthroughs in long-unsolved cases, including the pipe bomb investigation.
Patel Praises Bongino’s Impact
Patel continued, stating that Bongino not only completed his mission but exceeded expectations. “Our country is safer and better because of his work,” Patel said, expressing gratitude for Bongino’s decision to serve.
Bongino Responds to Patel
In his reply, Bongino expressed appreciation for the praise and the opportunity to serve. “Thank you, my friend. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve beside you,” he wrote.
From Secret Service to FBI
Before joining the FBI, Bongino was a Secret Service agent and a conservative commentator with a popular show. He left his media career to take on the federal role. Despite serving less than a year since his March 2025 swearing-in, Bongino’s contributions have been recognized as significant and impactful.
