Following an urgent meeting between senior leaders of the two parties, sources reported that the ruling allies, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), decided to stop exchanging jabs early on Thursday after weeks of inter-provincial political sniping.
After Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that other parties used the province’s flood destruction for political gain, the bitter verbal sparring between the PPP and PML-N, which started over flood payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), heated up.
