This week’s pro-am event in Scotland will see McIlroy play alongside his father Gerry. On Friday, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan will play alongside McIlroy; Monahan is paired with Billy Horschel this week.
Next, on Saturday at St Andrews, world number three McIlroy will tee off against South African LIV golfer Dean Burmester and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the head of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The 48-player LIV Golf League is sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and has attracted many of the top golfers in the globe over the last three years.
At Carnoustie on Thursday, day one, Monahan and Al-Rumayyan will tee off in the same fourball with their professionals.
The home of golf is the best place to attempt to get people together and conversing,” McIlroy said to Sport.
I find it fantastic and encouraging that Jay and Yasir would collaborate on music. It’s also evident that a sizable contingent of players from LIV are participating in this event.
