COPENHAGEN: Two days after the main airport in Copenhagen was closed due to drone sightings that sparked security fears in Europe, police announced early Thursday that drones in the country’s airspace had forced the closure of Denmark’s Aalborg airport, which serves both military and commercial planes.
According to Danish national police, the drones had a similar pattern to those that had caused a four-hour flight delay at Copenhagen airport a few days prior. After almost three hours, local police reported that the drones had departed the Aalborg region.
Denmark connected the Copenhagen airport incident to a slew of alleged Russian drone incursions and other disturbances throughout Europe, claiming it was the most severe attack to date on its vital infrastructure.
