Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler are slated to square off in a lethal battle in Dune 2, according to the latter.
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, the 32-year-old explained, “We basically said hello and then got down to work on the fight, trying to kill each other.”
Despite their onscreen animosity, the Oscar nominee claimed that they shared common ground.
“We knew a lot about each other, and we have mutual friends and colleagues.”
“But the first time we met was in Hungary, in the stunt rehearsal room,” the Elvis singer explained.
Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve responded, “That’s the best way to meet.” The 56-year-old detailed the background process, stating that they “did some readings by Zoom.”
“Because everybody was all over the planet, and I wanted to hear the words just before locking everything.”
“And I felt like there were some sparks between the two actors. And I mean, they are professional. “It’s their responsibility to get along,” he added.
Dune: Part Two is due to hit theaters on March 1.
