Balochistan was shaken on Wednesday by multiple terrorist assaults in different locations, leading to multiple injuries, as the polls for February 8 drew near.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) election headquarters in Quetta and Kalat’s Mangochar were the target of three different hand grenade explosions; three persons were injured in the Quetta incident.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hussain Jan revealed that a second hand grenade attack was carried out against PPP candidate Zahoor Buledi’s home in Kech subsequent to the strikes.
Awami National Party (ANP) employees were attacked in a different incident in Chaman City, when attackers opened fire on them, killing a worker named Zahoor Ahmed.
As party spokesperson Zamrak Achakzai stated, the incident happened as ANP activists were engaged in electioneering activities in the PB-50 seat.
Balochistan’s acting home minister, Zubair Jamali, expressed regret for the incidents and stated that the people’s determination to combat terrorism would not be weakened by such acts.
In addition, authorities reported that independent candidate Rehan Zeb Khan was shot and killed on Wednesday in the Bajaur area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The candidate for office was running in the NA-8 and PK-22 seats. He was in the tribal district’s Sadiqabad Phatak Bazar area in relation to the election campaign when he was shot and killed by unknown attackers.
The attacks take place against the backdrop of a rise in terrorist strikes that have recently targeted the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan in particular.
