Since a disappointing semi-final exit in the previous edition of the competition in February 2023, they have thrashed six-time world champions Australia in the Ashes T20 series, defeated India and New Zealand away, and cruised to a 3-0 series triumph over Pakistan to begin the 2024 season.
The only big setback was Sri Lanka’s surprising series upset at the close of last summer.
They have polished the attacking style of cricket established by coach Jon Lewis, but defeating Australia will require near-perfect performance.
Their form is positive, and a home T20 series against New Zealand will come later this summer to build.
