Eric Dane, best known as McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy and recently seen in Euphoria, is opening up like never before. His upcoming memoir, Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments, is scheduled for 2026. It will be published by Maria Shriver’s imprint, The Open Field, under Penguin Random House.
In this book, Dane shares his life’s journey — the highs of a decades-long acting career and the challenges of living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He calls it a way to capture moments that truly matter.
“I wake up every morning and am reminded that this is real — this illness, this challenge — and that’s why I’m writing this book,” Dane said. “I want to capture the days that shaped me — the joyful ones, the tough ones, the ones I never took for granted. If my story helps someone find meaning in their own life, then it’s worth sharing.”
Earlier this year, Dane revealed his ALS diagnosis. The progressive disease has affected his mobility and daily life. It also forced him to miss the Grey’s Anatomy reunion at the Emmys after a fall in his kitchen.
Book of Days is more than a memoir. It’s an inspiring story about living with heart, gratitude, and resilience. Dane’s reflections give readers an intimate look at his journey — balancing professional achievements with personal challenges. It’s a reminder to treasure every moment and live fully, no matter the circumstances.
