RAWALPINDI: The army has detained Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamid, the former head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), on suspicion of stealing valuables and taking land from a private housing society’s owner. The military’s media wing released the announcement on Monday.
“Complying with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a detailed court of inquiry was undertaken by the Pakistan Army to ascertain the correctness of complaints in Top City Case made against Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid,” said the ISPR.
As a result, according to the ISPR, the former spymaster has been subject to appropriate disciplinary punishment in accordance with the Pakistan Army Act.It further stated that other post-retirement violations of the Pakistan Army Act have also been shown against the former general, who was the corps commander of Peshawar.
“The process of Field General Court Martial has been initiated and Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid has been taken into military custody,” the ISPR stated in its bulletin.
