MUZAFFARGARH: In a case involving a phony degree, Jamshed Dasti, a former member of the National Assembly, was given a seven-year prison sentence.
The decision in the BA fake degree case was made public by a district and sessions judge in Multan.
In accordance with Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, Dasti, who is also the chairman of the Awami Raj Party, was sentenced to seven years in prison.
He was also found guilty of many offenses, including Sections 420 (cheating) and 471 (using falsified documents), which resulted in a total sentence of 17 years. Ten years of this are subject to bail.
This comes two months after Dasti was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for using phony academic credentials.
