Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who arrived in Jordan after being freed by Israeli soldiers after the Global Sumud Flotilla was intercepted, will return home on October 9, according to confirmation made by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Tuesday.
Ahmad, a Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader, was one of numerous people arrested earlier this month when Israeli soldiers stopped the Global Sumud Flotilla that was delivering relief to Gaza.
The 45-ship flotilla, which was carrying political leaders and activists, left Spain last month with the intention of lifting Israel’s blockade of Gaza, where the UN has issued a famine warning.
