Katy Perry has decided to end her time on “American Idol.”
The pop singer announced that she is leaving the well-liked competition show after serving as a judge for seven years.
“I believe this will likely be my final season and show on ‘Idol,'” Perry revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night.
Fans of “American Idol” criticize Kate Perry and Luke Bryan for their “rude” response, saying they should “apologize.”
“You know, I really adore ‘Idol.'” I feel like I need to get out and experience that pulse to my own beat, even if it’s connected me to the heart of America,” she continued, giving the host a wink.
Perry said, “Well, they’ll,” in response to a question about how her fellow “American Idol” judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan handled the news.
Perry also posted a social media confirmation of her announcement.
“Let’s pretend to be two truths and a lie: 1. I won the Monopoly Deal against @usher. 2. In September, I’m the main attraction at Rock in Rio. 3. “This season of @americanidol is my last,” she captioned a photo on Instagram.
The “Roar” singer left after receiving backlash for her contentious “American Idol” season.
During season 21 of the popular show, Perry was accused of “mom-shaming” and being “condescending.”
