HYDERABAD: The Counter-Terrorism Department and the Sindh police’s Special Branch have determined that explosives planted in the former Maal Khana (evidence room) detonated, leading to a preliminary investigation into the explosion at the Jamshoro Police Station.
An official from CTD stated that “the explosion damaged the Maal Khana of the police station to a great extent,” indicating that it was not a hand grenade explosion.
The statement refuted the assertion made by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Tariq Dharejo that eight people were injured when a hand grenade inside the Jamshoro Police Station exploded owing to heat.
Speaking to Geo News, the senior police official claimed that the grenade burst because the storage heated up, injuring five other police officers, two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and one suspect.
According to DIG Dharejo, two of the injured have been sent to Karachi for additional care, while the remaining six are receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital in Hyderabad.
