The Islamic Ideology Council’s (CII) recent ruling that the withholding tax collection on bank withdrawals and transfers is not Islamic has been challenged by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
All legal preparations have been finished, according to sources, and the case will go to trial.
The CII, which is chaired by Allama Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, declared on Wednesday that it is “excessive and un-Islamic” to deduct withholding tax from bank withdrawals or transfers of personal funds.
