An Instagram image uploaded by an account affiliated with a Harvard faculty club that supports Palestine was “unequivocally” denounced by Harvard University for containing “deeply offensive antisemitic tropes.”
On Monday, the Instagram account “Harvard Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine” (FSJP) came under fire for posting a picture of an antisemitic propaganda poster from the past that showed African Americans under Jewish authority.
In a statement released on Monday, the institution condemned the tweet and said the account posted “despicable messages” that “have no place in the Harvard community.”
In a message to the Harvard community on Tuesday, interim president Alan M. Garber of the university restated the assertion and denounced the social media post as “flagrantly antisemitic”.
On Monday, Harvard *faculty* posted an explicitly antisemitic poster that showed a Jewish hand controlling a black mind. Shabbos Kestenbaum shared the image of the post to X. It is understandable that we Jewish students don’t feel safe in the classroom when we have lecturers like these.”
In just one day, Kestenbaum’s post had almost two million views, while other infuriated individuals defaced the Harvard professor’s work.
Harvard alumnus and billionaire Bill Ackman lashed out, writing, “This is grim,” to which X owner Elon Musk responded with a single “!”
