Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch rubbished media reports on Friday about an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) group visiting Pakistan.
In response to media inquiries on this visit, the FO spokeswoman stated that any claims of a high-level IAEA delegation visiting Pakistan are “fake news”.
She went on to say: “No official from IAEA is currently visiting Pakistan, nor are any policy talks planned in the near future with IAEA.”
Baloch emphasized that the Director General of the IAEA would visit Pakistan in February 2023.
Speculation began to spread after a PTI US chapter official and numerous others uploaded a video clip from an Indian news segment by Zee News on a meeting between IAEA Director General (DG) Rafael Mariano Grossi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the social media platforms.
The video claimed that the government and the IAEA stuck a deal on the Islamabad’s nuclear weapons.
