According to the investigation conducted by former immigration inspector David Neal and ex-borders officer, the Home Office had a “limited understanding” of the care industry after it was added to the UK’s shortage occupation list in 2022, which encouraged more workers to enter the nation.
The report and another on Border Force operations at London City Airport were made public on Tuesday afternoon as lawmakers concluded their work before the Easter break.
Mr. Neal’s research revealed “failings at a local, regional, and national level” with regard to private jet arrivals, with Border Force personnel failing to meet high-risk planes.
Redacted numbers indicate the number of high-risk flights that officials met, but Mr. Neal called the amount “shocking” and said it needed to be addressed “as a matter of urgency”.
Following his release of airport report details to a newspaper last month, Mr. Neal was let go by the Home Office, which claimed he had “lost the confidence” of Home Secretary James Cleverly.
