Last month, while Emma MacLean and her partner Tori were out enjoying her birthday, a group of males ambushed them in downtown Halifax, in the eastern Canadian municipality of Nova Scotia.

On Saturday, Ms. MacLean said to news, “I’m scared to walk downtown in Halifax again. I simply believe that you have no control over what might occur. It’s too much. This is not what I expected to happen, especially because it coincides with [gay] pride month.”

While her partner received bruises on her arm and under her eye and “went to the emerge,” or hospital, following the incident, Ms. MacLean claimed she was left with a fractured nose, a chipped tooth, and a bruise under her eye. However, her girlfriend was informed that her nose was “too swollen for surgery.”

She stated they were “extremely thankful that things were not worse” and shared photos of her injuries on her Facebook page. They included a fractured nose, chipped teeth, multiple bruises, bumps on our heads, and faces.

A witness provided a video of the event, which was posted on the page and features a woman in black top and grey pants being hit and kicked by many males as she lies on the ground in it.
