President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Parvez Elahi, was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore on Tuesday after being detained for several months.
This has happened after the PTI leader’s bail in the Punjab Assembly illegal recruiting case was granted by the Lahore High Court (LHC). Earlier today, LHC Judge Sultan Tanvir declared the outcome of Elahi’s bail petition to be reserved.
The PTI president arrived at his home in the provincial capital after the release.
Elahi was one of the many PTI leaders who were taken into custody when the opposition party was targeted in the wake of the May 9 events.
The May 9 incidents are related to the violent protests that erupted across the nation after PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested in connection with a corruption case last year.
