The Ukrainian defeated Fury via split decision in Saudi Arabia in May to become the first-ever four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing history.
On December 21, the 37-year-old will take on Fury once more; however, he may then elect to return to cruiserweight.
“I believe that I may drop to cruiserweight following the rematch. “I would like to see more fights at cruiserweight,” Usyk stated on an external podcast for “3 Knockdown Rule.”
“My goal is to become the cruiserweight division’s undisputed champion for a second time. I have to eat constantly as I start getting ready for my heavyweight training camp.
It’s difficult for me, and I dislike it.”
Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion, advanced to the heavyweight class in 2019.
For his battle against Fury, he weighed the most of his career—16 stone (224 pounds).
Whether the rematch in December will be for the undisputed championship is still up in the air.
The IBF, which had threatened to take away Usyk’s title if he does not face his required challenger, has granted an exception to Usyk.
The sanctioning authority is thinking over Usyk’s proposal.
