Three additional Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) politicians received notices from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday, following statements made by many PTI leaders the day before regarding the controversy surrounding a video about the fall of Dhaka in 1971 that was posted from the party founder’s X account.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, and Information Secretary Raoof Hasan have been called to appear before the investigative agency on Wednesday at 11 a.m., as per the notifications.
The deposed prime minister was named in the contentious post on X, a platform that was once Twitter. It said, “Every Pakistani should study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
The PTI founder, who is still detained in Adiala jail, was informed on Thursday by the FIA’s Cyber Crime Reporting Center that action was being taken against him due to his contentious tweet. Later that evening, the investigators visited the prison to speak with him.
The former prime minister, however, had declined to participate in the investigation into his contentious social media post and to meet with the agency’s anti-cybercrime unit.
