Paulo Fonseca has been named manager of the Italian team AC Milan.
The 51-year-old Portuguese, who oversaw Lille, a French club, from 2022 to 2024, has agreed to a three-year contract that ends in 2027.
He takes over for Stefano Pioli, who departed AC Milan with his permission following their fourth-place Serie A finish.
Following Lille’s fourth-place performance in Ligue 1 and subsequent elimination from the Champions League, Fonseca left the team with mutual consent.
In the Europa League final quarterfinals, Lille also lost to Aston Villa on penalties.
Fonesca has managed Porto, Roma, and Shakhtar Donetsk in the past.
With Porto, he won the Portuguese Super Cup in 2013, and with Shakhtar, he won the Ukrainian league and cup three times.
Former Lille manager Fonseca is named manager of AC Milan.
