News has found that the Democratic National Committee paid Trump prosecutor Matthew Colangelo hundreds of dollars for “political consulting” in 2018.
In the historic criminal prosecution of the former president, Colangelo gave the opening remarks. He is currently working as a lead prosecutor with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s Office.
Following the resignations of Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz, two prosecutors who were looking into Trump, and in opposition to Bragg’s initial refusal to bring charges against the former president, Colangelo joined Bragg’s office in December 2022. To work with Bragg, Colangelo resigned from a key position within the Biden Justice Department. After that, in April 2023, Bragg filed charges against the former president, prompting members in the Republican Party to express concerns about the case’s purported politics.
