Kano, and Dave has helped push the sound of UK rap and grime, his CV of collaborators reads like a who’s who of chart-toppers, award-winners, and A-listers, from Adele, Sam Smith, and Drake to Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, and Idris Elba.
We talk about this year’s Glastonbury festival, the incredible headline performances by Dua Lipa and Coldplay, and more on Zoom. He collaborated with both of them during lockdown, when he assembled 24 performers, including Dave Grohl, to raise money by performing a cover of Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These.”
He chuckles a little at the idea. “I feel incredibly grateful to know so many of these great artists I have been working with,” he responds. The most sought-after producer in music is a modest, soft-spoken man who is ready to give credit to others for their accomplishments.
