The actress Judith Godrèche stated that Benoît Jacquot had raped her and that Jacques Doillon had sexually molested her when she was a child.
According to the news agency, the two men showed up at the Paris Regional Directorate of the Judicial Police (DRPJ) on Monday morning.
Both of them have refuted the accusations, and their attorneys have criticized their incarceration.
Marie Dose, Jacques Doillon’s attorney, stated that no legal standard could support his detention for interrogation “36 years” following the reported occurrence.
According to French law, a person can be held by the police for a maximum of 48 hours.
Earlier in the year, Ms. Godrèche, 51, accused 77-year-old Benoît Jacquot of rape in 1986, when she was just 14 years old.
She said that during their relationship, which continued into the 1990s, he had an unhealthy “hold” over her.
She further said that while working on one of Jacques Doillon’s films, she was the victim of sexual assault.
The charges led to a cooperative inquiry in February.
She shared a photo of herself with Benoît Jacquot when she was a teenager on Instagram in response to the custody ruling, writing, “I’m crying… From everything that has happened… Though I’m not sure if I have the strength, I will. “I’ll have it—for her.”
