The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) declared on Wednesday that the gas supply to CNG stations would be suspended till February 5 in light of the current coldwave.
The gas company said in a statement that the decision was made in response to the strong demand for gas supplies from domestic consumers.
The SNGPL cautioned CNG station owners that failure to abide by the order will result in legal action as well as consequences in accordance with corporate guidelines.
The action is being taken as the administration gives uninterrupted gas supply to home consumers top priority.
Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was implemented by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ambatullah, directing CNG stations in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to close for five days.
From February 1 to 5, all CNG stations inside the district will be closed. This is a preventative move by the authorities to guarantee a consistent supply of gas to residential consumers.
The goal of the decision is to protect community needs and avert any possible disruptions in the gas supply.
It is important to note that due to the nation’s diminishing natural gas reserves, caretaker Power Minister Muhammad Ali alerted the populace in October 2023 that gas would only be accessible for eight hours during the winter.
