Swiatek, the top-seeded player in Poland, has prevailed in ten of their eleven prior encounters, including the last three and two games at Roland Garros—the 2022 championship match and a quarterfinal held a year later.
Swiatek, 23, won the French Open in 2020, 2022, and 2023. She defeated Marketa Vondrousova 6-0, 6-2, to advance to the tournament’s final four. She has won 19 straight matches in the competition.
The 20-year-old American Gauff stated, “She’s definitely a tough opponent for me and for anybody.”
It’s going to be difficult because she’s playing excellent tennis, but I’m going to enter the match really confident that I can prevail.
“I definitely think I have to find a better way to play her.”
On Thursday, American Desirae Krawczyk and British Neal Skupski will play in their first-ever French Open mixed doubles final together.
They will play the second-seeded players from Germany and France, Laura Siegemund and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, respectively.
Three-time champion Alfie Hewett of Britain competes against two-time champion Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina in the men’s wheelchair singles to go to the final.
