Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamid was involved in political activities after his retirement from the military in November 2022, following his arrest by the military.
The defense minister stated on Monday, during an appearance on the news show “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,” that “Gen sahab definitely had a hand in it.” The events that unfolded in the political arena after Faiz’s retirement.
Knowing him a little, he consistently muddies the waters. particularly [in Faiz’s case], a person who has abused unrestricted power and ought to step aside,” he continued.
In response to a query on the alleged participation of the former ISI director general (DG) in the events of May 9,Lt Gen (retd) Faiz is not alone in this, according to Asif, if the reports are accurate, since he “would have been providing some logistics, using his experience to define the targets to cause bigger damage”.
