Newly elected Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has urged Baloch terrorists to quit violence and enter mainstream politics, claiming that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led administration will announce a “general amnesty” to address the issue through discussion.
“Many assassination attempts were made on my life, but I have forgiven all those [elements] because there is no flame of revenge in my heart,” the regional chief executive stated on Geo News’ Jirga, which aired at 10 p.m. on Sunday.
“Although I am in power, it does not mean that I start settling personal scores… [and] I did not have any personal feud with anyone,” he went on to say.
Bugti, who was interim interior minister at the Centre before the February 8 elections, stated that he has always supported the state’s struggle against separatists and has lost relatives, friends, and colleagues in the conflict.
“But despite this, I don’t have any revenge in my heart.”
