According to an News story on Thursday, Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has good news for Karachi residents who use up to 100 units of electricity.
The Energy Minister, Naisr Hussain Shah, told the media that a strategy has been developed to give free electricity to consumers utilizing up to 100 units; mini-grid stations and solar parks would help to make this project possible.
Shah emphasized that the budget includes funding for mini-grid and solar energy projects from the Sindh government, with Rs 5 billion set aside for solar efforts.According to the Minister of Energy, solar panels will be available for much less money, which will help the city’s lower-class and middle-class citizens.
He announced the distribution of 200,000 solar panels, 80 of which will be government funded.
Shah also announced the establishment of mini-grid stations and solar parks throughout Sindh, including Karachi.
K-Electric threatened to turn off energy to Sindh government departments last week due to outstanding debts totaling billions of rupees.
