According to individuals familiar with the matter, Google, the tech giant, will soon start producing its Pixel smartphones in India, the news has learned.
In the southern state of Tamil Nadu, Google plans to produce the phones at a Foxconn facility that is currently in operation.
Additionally, the company plans to produce drones on its own in the state.
In the wake of geopolitical tensions with the West, India has become a major destination for international businesses trying to diversify supply lines outside of China.
Google had declared last year that it would start producing Pixel smartphones in India, starting with the Pixel 8.
“India is a priority market for Pixel smartphones, and we’re committed to bringing the best of our hardware and underlying built-in software capabilities to people across the country,” it stated.
