ISLAMABAD News learned on Wednesday that the federal government has finalized plans to guarantee imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan’s appearance before the Supreme Court bench through a video link in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reforms case today (Thursday).
According to federal government officials who spoke with Geo News, preparations have been taken in response to directives from the supreme court mandating the Punjab and Central governments to set up a video link system so that the imprisoned PTI founder can make his case.
The Chief Justice’s comments transpired at the intra-court appeal hearing for the federal government, which was initiated in response to the 2023 ruling of the Supreme Court nullifying certain NAB reforms.
Under the leadership of Chief Justice Isa, the Supreme Court’s bigger bench consists of five members: Justices Amin-ud-Din Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Athar Minallah, and Hasan Azhar Rizvi.
On May 16, the case will be heard again by the same bench.
Khan, who was detained at Adiala Jail, desired to make a personal appearance before the supreme court to make his case. The court did, however, let him to make his case over video link.
“The PTI founder can present his arguments in the upcoming hearing via video link if he wishes to do so […] arrangements should be made for the presentation of arguments via video link,”
