The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) declared on Monday that after the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of the party on reserved seats, the federal government was trying “out of desperation” to outlaw the party.
Senior PTI leader Senator Ali Zafar told Geo News that his party will not let the decision’s implementation “even for a second” since it is illegal.
Following the statement by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar that the PTI will be banned and that Imran Khan, the founder of the party, and former president Arif Alvi would be charged with treason, Zafar made his remarks.
Regarding their declaration to outlaw PTI, I think they inhabit an alternate reality where the law does not apply.
The law has no clause that permits the government to take such action.”
The senator said, “Even if they consider such an impossibility, the courts and we are here, and this statement automatically disqualifies him [Tarar].” We will not let the implementation of such a judgment, not even for a brief moment.”
Taking a swipe at the information minister, Zafar stated he believed the minister’s remarks were made in “desperation” following the ruling on the reserved seat.
