In a rare public altercation, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, Miftah Ismail and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar got into a verbal altercation on Monday regarding the budget 2024–25, which is heavily taxed.
The pair took aim at the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a joint news conference, stating that “such a budget is not going to do any good”.
Former prime minister Abbasi, who resigned from his position as senior vice president of the PML-N last year, attacked the government, claiming that the nation could not advance without taxing the influential groups.
“There is no reform agenda in the most recent budget.” He demanded that financial misappropriation stop.
The outgoing prime minister claimed that the tax-heavy budget had to be presented by all of the coalition parties in power.
It is important to note that Miftah revealed the debut date of Awaam Pakistan, the new party led by Abbasi, last month.
Speaking over the phone with News, the former finance minister declared that Abbasi would be the first convener of their political organization, which would be officially founded on July 6. He had stated that Islamabad will host the AP inauguration event.
In reference to Pakistan’s “highest” gas and energy rates relative to other nations in the area, Abbasi posed the question, “Which foreign investment will come here?”
He questioned Muhammad Aurangzeb, the finance minister, “Will taxes increase exports?”
What will the administration do in the upcoming budget, inquired the former premier?
