To combat terrorism, extremism, and sectarianism, the government established a National Peace Message Committee.
Atta Tarar, the Federal Minister for Information, will serve as the committee’s leader. The group is composed of prominent religious scholars, spiritual leaders, representatives of minority communities, and officials from pertinent ministries. It will seek to create a cohesive national narrative opposing hate speech and sectarianism.
The committee was established by a notification from the Ministry of Information and would serve as a subcommittee of the National Committee for Narrative Formation. The group will work to foster religious unity while serving as a check on the growing tide of extremism and terrorism.
