Regarding the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members from standing committees, the government has finalized its plan of action.
Details that appeared on Friday indicate that government members have been instructed to make sure the quorum is met, and that National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has not amended his decision to accept the resignations of opposition members.
In the event that PTI members are not present, standing committee sessions shall go normally. In this regard, the Assembly Secretariat has received orders from the Speaker. Sources claim that the convener will preside over sessions if there isn’t an opposition chairman present.
Members of the government have been instructed to guarantee a quorum at committee meetings. The Speaker stated that the opposition’s resignations will not interfere with the work of standing committees.
