ISLAMABAD: The government believes that the current issue surrounding the Auditor General’s report, which put the alleged financial irregularities of ministries and departments at an astounding Rs375 trillion (Rs375000bn), was the result of a premeditated action.
According to official sources, the figure was a “deliberate act” intended to damage the system and defame the current government rather than a “typographical blunder.” After a few weeks of defending its findings, the Auditor General’s office admitted this week that the report contained typographical errors, but government sources think the exaggeration was intentional.
Rather, they claim that the incident was planned to embarrass the government by a top person in the audit body who was known to have political party affiliations.
