Hannah Gutierrez was jailed in April following her conviction by jurors at a trial in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the United States.
Director Joel Souza suffered injuries, and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins passed away.
On Monday, the defense attorney for Gutierrez—who is incarcerated for eighteen months at a women’s facility in New Mexico—filed a succinct appeal notice.
Her legal team has thirty days to provide thorough justifications. They had earlier asked for a new trial after the decision.
It was revealed during Gutierrez’s trial that she inadvertently took live ammunition into the scene, even though it was clearly forbidden.
