The highly regarded best drama prize went to Netflix for its revival of Top Boy, which had originally shown on Channel 4.
Happy Valley tried to overtake it, but the drama managed to win both the memorable moment award and best actress for Sarah Lancashire.
Additionally, Baroness Floella Benjamin and daytime TV sensation Lorraine Kelly received special prizes.
The actor from Happy Valley praised the news “for giving this very British drama a very British home.”
