Amidst loud cheers from Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) members backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar intervened on behalf of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif during the chaotic session on the federal budget 2024–25 in the National Assembly on Sunday.

As the lower house session deviated to discuss opinions on a fresh military operation to eradicate militancy, tensions erupted from the opposition benches.

The opposition MNAs disrupted Asif’s address on the assembly floor by yelling anti-terrorist slogans such “We want peace” and “End the operation” in response to the recently approved “Azm-e-Istehkam” operation, which aims to eradicate terrorism from the nation.
