KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Karachi was expected to experience severe rain and thunder on Sunday, following days of mild to heavy intermittent rains.
There is currently sporadic rainfall in a number of city areas, including Sharea Faisal, Malir, MA Jinnah Road, Saddar, and the Old City Area.
The wind was coming from the southwest at a speed of eleven kilometers per hour, according to the PMD. On the other hand, throughout the day, the temperature may increase to a maximum of 32 °C.
It also stated that the morning air had an 85% humidity level.
In a latest weather forecast released on Friday, the Met Office projected one or two spells of heavy rain for Karachi between August 4 and 7.Notably, the meteorological department issued a warning, noting that while rainfall in many sections of the city is expected to range from 40 to 60 mm, a few locations are also expected to witness record-breaking amounts of up to 100 mm during the anticipated impending spell.
The PMD had earlier predicted moderate to extremely heavy rainfall for Karachi between August 3 and August 5.
Furthermore, on July 31, strong rainstorms pounded several parts of Karachi, submerging the city’s low-lying neighborhoods and raising the possibility of more strong downpours.
