After suffering a critical injury while serving his country, Abubakar Mahmood, the vice captain and outstanding drag-flicker for the Pakistan hockey team, has found himself the victim of government and hockey federation incompetence.
During the Asian Champions Trophy match against India, Abubakar had a knee injury. Despite assurances from officials, he is still not receiving the required care.
According to sources, Tariq Bugti, the head of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), gave Abubakar the assurance that his medical care would be arranged when the team was visiting China. In a similar vein, Rana Mashhood, the chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, promised Abubakar medical attention over a video conference.
