The Drumchapel, Scotland, table tennis player, who qualified for the Games on his third try, is traveling to Paris with the Paralympics team.
Perry, 30, was born without a limb and without both hands, yet he never looked back after discovering table tennis at a summer camp when he was sixteen.
He has now fulfilled a dream after attempting and failing to qualify for both the 2020 Games in Tokyo, which are scheduled for later, and the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
It’s utterly ridiculous to decide to play table tennis when you are a handler, but I love playing,” he said to Sally Hurst of the news.
“I travel the world because it has given me a purpose, a career, and of course, the desire to compete in the Paralympic Games.”
Perry began playing at the age of sixteen with a crude Velcroed bat connected to his arm.
“I just fell in love from that day,” stated the man. “I went to have fun and meet new people; I didn’t think I was going to be a Paralympian. Then it gradually began to rule my life.”
