Rafael Grossi, the chairman of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated on Monday that negotiations with Iran to resume nuclear facility inspections have advanced, but cautioned that “not much time” is left to come to a consensus.
Grossi spoke cautiously optimistically before the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna. “There has been progress. Without giving a timeframe, he stated, “I sincerely hope that it will be possible to come to a successful conclusion of these discussions within the next few days.”
After enacting a law mandating its Supreme National Security Council to authorize any future inspections, Tehran reduced its cooperation with the UN inspectors in July.
