Michael Atherton, a former captain of England, has charged that the International Cricket Council (ICC) deliberately arranges games such that India and Pakistan face off frequently in important competitions.
Atherton’s comments follow the intensity and drama surrounding the Asia Cup last month, in which the two bitter rivals faced off three times, including in the championship match.
Both sides engaged in heated arguments and unsportsmanlike actions during the event, and India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, declined to shake hands with Salman Agha of Pakistan.
